Louise Barnes

Louise BarnesLouise has over 35 years experience in adult rehabilitation, including both clinical and management roles at The Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney and Mt Wilga Private Hospital, Hornsby. She has specialized skills in neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders, with particular interest in aphasia, traumatic brain injury and cognitive rehabilitation. Louise has achieved excellent outcomes using a functional treatment approach and innovative therapy solutions. She has recently worked in the Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Service (St Vincent’s Hospital) as a clinical educator for Speech Pathology students completing both bachelors and master’s degrees. Future objectives include becoming more involved in aphasia and cognitive research, where she can combine both anecdotal and empirical evidence to support evidence-based practice.
